On June 4th, 2019, The Los Angeles Times published a story,  reporting homelessness in the City of Los Angeles has risen by 16%, and also reported homelessness has risen by 75% in the six years of Mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti's tenure.

On June 5th, 2019, Alexandra D. Datig, a political commentator who has an extensive background in political campaigning, setting of public policy and rights for victims of human trafficking, initiated a petition on Change.org to recall Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti for his failure to prevent homelessness.

The petition on Change.org created a massive response from 

the local and national news media, gaining support from communities all throughout Los Angeles.

The first radio show on KFI 640, The John and Ken Show and national cable news network One America News 

The Daily Ledger with Graham Ledger gave the online petition the initial thumbs up.

​Community leaders David Hernandez, Benito "Benny" Bernal, Robert Alan Fine and Rick & Robin Marcelli, joined Datig in a formal process to recall the Mayor of Los Angeles.

Within days, major local and national news followed such as NBC4 Streets of Shame Series with John Cádiz Klemack, ABC 7 Eyewitness News, KTLA, KTTV Fox L.A. 11, KNX 1070, Dr. Drew Pinsky, The Todd Starnes Show, Michael Medved and Tucker Carlson Tonight  

On June 19, 2019 a news conference was scheduled, with a Notice of Intent served on Eric Garcetti by a licensed process server from Nationwide Legal.
